BELIZE MISSION TRIP

Global Outreach Vo-Tech School is located in Belmopan Belize and provides education and training for approximately 30 to 35 boys. Global Outreach is a boarding school and boys come from all over Belize. Most come from poor families and would otherwise not be able to attend government schools in their villages. In addition to academic and Bible training, the boys receive technical training in either automotive or woodworking. The primary focus of the Belize Mission Trip will be an outreach to the boys and staff of Global Outreach. We will also be doing some light construction and repairs on campus, leading devotions and study halls, as well as opportunities for teaching, tutoring, and working in the woodworking shop. The cost of the trip averages around $800 to $900 per person and a valid passport is required. For more information contact David Lane at 423-306-9771.

Global Outreach Vo-Tech Schools

Global Outreach Vo-Tech School is located close to Belmopan Belize. The school's purpose is to introduce young men to Jesus Christ, teach them basic academic skills and train them either in mechanics or woodworking. It is a three-year program. Students come from all sections of Belize, they are housed on campus, and return home every three weeks, during holidays and summer vacation. The school currently has forty-two students, age 14-17. Many of the students, after graduation, further their skills at a technical school or go to high school. First Baptist has been involved with the school for close to thirty years.
The church supports the school financially, and teams travel there two times a year, involved in various ministry and outreach projects. First Baptist members have been involved with various projects including, but not limited to, construction, painting, building a pigpen, building a home for an elderly couple in one village, Celebrate Recovery initiatives with a pastor in Orange Walk in northern Belize, building other campus buildings, electrical work, and dentistry. Teams have also helped with academic studies, tutoring one on one in math and reading, teaching classes, leading devotionals, and sometimes taking the students on outings.
There are also opportunities to encourage/support students through sponsorships. The largest need is prayer support for students, their families, the school, and team members.
First Baptist is involved in at least two trips per year. One in either February or March and another one in June. The only skill set one really needs to participate is a willingness to help others and show the love of Christ.
