An Encouraging Word from Marvin
Our Centennial celebration is in its final months. We have had a spectacular year of special events. Today I want to bring two more to your attention and your calendars. On Wednesday, October 25 we will gather with our friends at First Presbyterian and First Broad Street United Methodist to host a Church Circle Centennial Fall Festival. We will meet on the Circle from 5:30 – 7:30 PM for a time of food, fellowship, music and fun. We will not have dinner that night in the Fellowship Hall so you can join our young people in a time of celebration. Please invite your unchurched neighbors to be a part of this great outreach opportunity.
The second event I want to bring to your minds is our Veterans’ Recognition services on November 12. Both morning services will revolve around how we live A Generous Life through our sacrificial service. In our 11 AM service, Congressman Phil Roe will be present to recognize our veterans. We want to compile a list of every veteran we can discover who has been a part of our FBC fellowship since 1917. Please let my assistant, Darlene King, know the names of your loved ones who have served in the United States Armed Forces so their names can be included in our recognition.
On October 29th we begin our annual Stewardship emphasis as we consider what it is to live A Generous Life. Over the course of a month we will consider how to be generous with our time, talent, touch, treasure and thanks. I look forward to thinking with you about how we can all lead generous lives.
Thanks for all you are already doing to live generous lives,
