An Encouraging Word From Marvin

This Sunday we will take a break from our look at the gospel of John in order to hear one of our newest staff members. Jack Carpenter is the new Leader of our Recovery Ministry, which is now called Recovery at Clay Street. Jack has a powerful personal story which will be a blessing to each one of us. We are blessed to have Jack and Molly and their family in our fellowship. I hope you will be present to encourage Jack and to hear his good word from the Lord.

On Sunday afternoon we were blessed to see seven of our young people who participated in our Bible Drill. Each of them did a great job as they were responsible for knowing the books of the Bible as well as a healthy number of scriptures. You would have been proud of every one of them and of their leaders. Great job by everyone of you!

Cookie Greer is off to a great start as our Interim Minister of Children and Activities. She is incorporating some new ideas in addition to the wonderful existing ministries that Robyn has been doing so well. Cookie is looking for some volunteers to help with Children’s Worship so be prepared to say “yes” when she asks. Of course you will need to go through our background check to work with kids but we can make that happen rather quickly!

We are having a good number of guests in worship right now. Be sure to introduce yourself to someone this week if you encounter someone you don’t know. You may make the difference in someone choosing to invest their lives with us at First Baptist Church!
