An Encouraging Word From Marvin
As always, our students did an outstanding job leading us in worship on Sunday. They were well-prepared and thoughtful in their music, speeches and worship leadership. Every year I marvel at the maturity of our high school seniors. Maybe the most enjoyable moment for me is when I asked those of you who have worked with them in some capacity to stand. It is a great reminder that it takes an entire church to raise up a new generation. Thanks to all of you for what you are doing!
One of the real joys of my calling is the chance to teach. I currently lead a Sunday School class and have done so for a few years. The interaction between the people in the class I lead is among the most stimulating parts of my calling. I get the chance to hear from others as they see scripture through their eyes. I realize that many of us grow more in these class settings than we do in any other group. I hope you are actively involved in a Sunday School class. If not, please let me know so I can help you find a class that fits your needs.
This Sunday we return to the “I Quit…” series of sermons. We will talk about our need to “Quit judging.” It seems that our society is growing more judgmental and less accommodating with each passing week. I hope our time together will help us model what Jesus wants us to do. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
