An Encouraging Word from Marvin
I love the energy that was palpable on our campus last week as we enjoyed another year of Vacation Bible School. Our children and youth were filled with excitement as they came here each day to fellowship, learn and worship. I don’t know the exact number of people who taught and served, but I have little doubt that this is the most labor-intensive week of the year on our campus. THANKS to all who made this a tremendous week of VBS. On a quiet Monday morning at the office, I am already looking forward to what will happen when VBS rolls around next year!
In the meantime, summer moves on here at First Baptist. Youth and children are preparing to go on mission trips and camps. Sunday School continues year-round as the primary Bible teaching ministry of our church. Our Preschool is open full-time for the first summer ever! Enrollment is climbing daily and exceeded last year’s enrollment some weeks ago. Our clinic, counseling center and recovery ministries continue to touch lives. Musicians continue to rehearse to lead us on Sunday in both services. So while school takes a break and some of our activities slow down, the vast majority of what we do as a church moves on a regular, or even enhanced, schedule during the summer. Our attendance these first few weeks of the summer has been encouraging. Thanks for being here when you are in town.
This Sunday we move from “Proverbs to Parables.” We will spend the next few weeks taking a deeper look at some of Jesus’ most profound teachings. This week we will consider “What is the least we can do?” I look forward to seeing you in your place on Sunday!
