An Encouraging Word from Marvin

Summer is drawing to a close and as it does the busy-ness of the church fall schedule picks up in pace. One of the things that happens in the fall at First Baptist Church is planning and preparing for Upward Basketball season. Our Administrative Committee has employed Robyn Wilson to lead our Upward effort on a part-time basis this fall and winter. Robyn began Upward in our church and has led it for the vast majority of its existence. Robyn will start work soon to help us get ready for yet another season of doing our best to influence young lives through the gospel and through sports.

We have had a busy summer of Sunday afternoon activities. On September 9 we will have our annual Church Picnic at Allandale. It has been a few years since we were last at Allandale. Mark your calendar today to join us there. It will be a chance for FBC folks of all generations to fellowship together.

Our Visioning Committee is wrapping up its initial work and will be rolling out the details to you in September, October and November. On November 4 we are asking that all Adult Sunday School classes meet together for a Visioning meeting in which we will ask you to express your willingness to join us in the next five years of the life of our church. Be praying now for the Visioning effort and for God’s will to be evident among us.

Our new Preschool Director, Brooke Robinette, is off to a busy and good start. Brooke is the right person at the right time to lead our Preschool into God’s good future for us. Be sure to add her to your prayer list! I know she will appreciate your prayers.

Thanks for your constant prayers, encouragement and love for our church.
