An Encouraging Word from Marvin

This Sunday we have two opportunities for us to grow closer to God together. The first is when we gather around the Lord’s table to celebrate the Lord’s supper together. We will focus our thoughts on the “respectable sin” of pride. How could anyone possibly be “proud” when we consider the gift of love that Jesus gave on the cross?

Sunday evening we will gather with Christians from around our city to pray about the drug crisis facing our region. It has been a blessing to meet with this group twice a year for three years now. We will worship together, pray together and fellowship together. I hope you will make a special effort to join us twice on Sunday.

Pray for the search team that is seeking a new Contemporary Worship Leader for our church. Abbie Edwards and Spencer Miller have done a great job filling in since Jessica’s last Sunday earlier this summer. We have a great legacy of joyous worship that Jessica developed over 11 years. Pray that our team led by Cliff Corker as chair, and Mike Carrier, Cathy Combs, Susan Lane and our deacon leaders, Rob Emery and Greg Cross, and I seek God’s leadership in this vital position.

Thanks for your faithfulness in attendance this summer. I do look forward to getting “back to normal” when fall comes! See you Sunday,

Marvin Cameron
