An Encouraging Word from Marvin
Again this year we rejoiced with an incredible group of graduating high school seniors. I marvel at the experiences and achievements these young people have at age 18. They are blessed by great families and a great church family that encourages them and helps them to become all God created them to become. Thanks to all of you who have played a part in their life stories so far. I know you will join me in praying for each of them as they move forward in the next stages of their lives.
Last weekend I was blessed to play a very small role in a conference on the opioid crisis in our region. Alan Meade of our fellowship played a pivotal role in helping hundreds of people from our region learn about the nature of pain and how we deal with it. In the coming months churches of our region will gather together to see how we can help deal with this crisis. I’ll be keeping you informed as we move forward together. Our Recovery at Clay Street makes us one of the more experienced churches in helping people who are struggling. I hope we can be at the forefront of helping with this important work.
This Sunday we will make one final visit to a Waffle House. This one is not in Athens, like the other sermons. We will travel to another Waffle House this week as we see the attributes of courage and love on display. I believe you will learn something about our congregation as we gather to worship God this Memorial Day weekend.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
