An Encouraging Word from Marvin

This Friday Darlene King will celebrate her 15th anniversary on our church staff. Darlene came to us as an administrative assistant, but she has become a minister in her own right. Darlene is first and foremost a follower of Jesus. She loves God with all her heart, soul, mind and strength and her neighbor as herself. She is not a member of our church, but she is a vital part of it. She drives a good distance every day to get here for work. She is among the first ones to arrive and the last to leave on a typical workday. Every hour of the day is filled with Darlene performing the tasks given to her and going the extra mile to find more work to do when those are complete.

Darlene has many skills and strengths, but the greatest may be her heart for ministry. I can’t count the number of times I hear her calling a person who has been hospitalized or under the weather just to see how they are doing. She has the heart of a pastor and the soul of a compassionate Christian. She is an excellent teammate on our staff and a great supporter of all those with whom she works.

Darlene, we are honored and blessed to have you as a teammate on our staff and in our fellowship. May God bless you with still more years of meaningful ministry, both here on our staff and in your own congregation. Thanks for sharing your gifts with us!

This Sunday we will return to the Waffle House for yet another lesson from our experience in Athens, Tennessee last summer. I hope you will be here as we worship God together,

Marvin Cameron
