An Encouraging Word from Marvin
What does one say about Easter worship? There is no day quite like Resurrection Sunday, is there? The songs of hope and faith stir our souls. The scripture that reminds us of the reality of the resurrection buoys our faith. Seeing dear friends in worship reminds us of the community of faith that we call a church. Thanks to all of you for another memorable Easter Sunday. May the warmth of the spirit of worship stay with you throughout this year!
This Sunday we will meet Jesus and Simon Peter by the seashore in Galilee. You will recall that in today’s Easter text we saw that Jesus told the women who came to anoint him that he would see his followers there. Now we come to the moment where Peter has to look his failure in the face. Most of us have had to do that at some point in our lives, but few of our moments had this sort of drama. I hope you will join us as we “face our failures” together.
I have wonderful news to share with you. Linda Fisher is beginning work as our Parish Nurse this week! Linda knows everything about our church through her life in it from childhood to today. She brings a love of First Baptist, its people and our Lord, to this new opportunity. I know you will join me in welcoming Linda to this important place on our staff.
I can’t wait to worship again with you on Sunday,
