Breakout Options (All breakout sessions will be recorded and available after the conference.)

  • Girls and Social Media (Nicole Miller M.D., 10:00 am session only) - Explore how social media shapes identity, confidence, and connection with girls. Through honest conversations and practical insights, a local pediatrician will guide parents and girls to gain understanding in order to better navigate the digital world with wisdom and resilience.

  • Boys and the Virtual World (Brent Metcalf, LCSW, 10:00 am session only) - In this session, a Christian counselor will guide parents and boys in recognizing the hidden challenges of the virtual world and its impact on young men’s hearts and minds.

  • Setting Boundaries with Social Media (Dr. Ashley Carter, 1:15 PM session only) - A mom and an educator gives practical advise on how parents can be good role models for their children and teens in their social media use by setting and maintaining boundaries as a family.

  • Vaping (Sean Watson, M.D.) -  Learn to identify vaping devices, understand how they work, and how they are marketed to our children. Explore the real health risks and warning signs to watch while offering Christ-centered guidance on counseling and recovery options to support students and families.

  • Bullying - Receive practical strategies from local education professionals to help you and your child/grandchild effectively manage bullying and challenging peer interactions.

  • The Ever-Changing Role of Grandparenting: Finding Strength Together (David & Carol Casey, Suzanne Chiles) - Whether you're looking for ideas to build better bonds with your grandchildren, or you are facing the challenge of raising your grandchildren, this breakout will provide the opportunity to discuss some of the unique roles grandparents occupy. Join us as we learn, share, and support one another in this important role.

  • Helping your Child Prepare for Kindergarten (Dr. Amy Doran) - Preparing your preschooler for kindergarten doesn’t have to be overwhelming. In this breakout session, a local educator will provide practical strategies and developmental insights to help parents support their child’s readiness and success from day one.

  • Student Success Panel Discussion (Lunchtime in the Fellowship Hall) - Our panel of veteran educators and administrators will share positive strategies to support student success by developing healthy social networks and maintaining life balance with boundaries.

We hope you'll join us at First Baptist Church Kingsport on Sunday, January 25 for our Family Conference.
